There are liars among us. We all know that. On occasion, any of us may even tell a lie.

When you find that you have been lied to, how do you react? What can or should you do? It seems logical that the seriousness of the lie should dictate the suggested action. For example, white lies are common and do little lasting harm. Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines a white lie as “A lie about a small or unimportant matter that someone tells to avoid hurting another person. He told a (little) white lie as his excuse for missing the party.
Big lies are different and do harm in many ways. Unfortunately, it seems we are being told big lies with increasing frequency. Some of these big lies are having a deleterious effect on our society.
Who tells these lies? Politicians and the news media seem to head the list. It has become difficult to believe anything said by any of them. Even the sources for FACT CHECKING are suspect.
Note to Self: Avoid telling lies and those who tell them.

I react to the lying fake news by simply turning off their broadcasts and not buying their sponsors’ products. Politicians seem to be born liars. Term limits would at least limit the fibs to 8 years. When we have arrived at the point where we need fact checkers to check fact checkers, truth seems to be a permanent casualty.

Turning off the news has been underway here for the past few months. Enough news seeps through without wasting hours a day and getting all worked up about things you cannot change.
When did lying become acceptable behavior? To borrow a term used these days, lying is “trending.”
