I’m Trying

Have you ever had anyone tell you they are “trying to lose weight” or “trying to stop smoking?”

When they first tell you they are trying, it is easy to feel empathetic. You believe them and should offer encouragement.

As the months pass, you hear the same words but don’t see any evidence of action or progress toward the goal they stated.

The next time “trying” comes into the conversation it sounds like the echo one would hear in an empty tomb. Their words ring hollow.

There comes a time to stop talking about trying and start acting.  Accomplishment comes from action.
